How it works

From “hi” to “I do” - here’s what the process of booking me as your celebrant looks like.

You reach out

  • You send an enquiry and we set up a relaxed chat - usually over video call, sometimes in person if we’re nearby.

  • We talk about your story, your plans, your venue, and the kind of ceremony you want to create. If it feels like a good fit, I’ll send through the booking agreement. Once the deposit is paid, your date is officially secured.

3–6 months before the wedding

  • Depending on the type of ceremony you want, I may send you a guided questionnaire to gather your story and ceremony details.

  • You let me know about vows, readings, and your witnesses.

  • I begin writing your ceremony.

3 months before (or within this window)

  • You apply online for your New Zealand marriage licence through the Department of Internal Affairs.

  • Your licence is valid for three months.
Once approved, you send it through to me.

4–6 weeks before

  • You receive your ceremony draft.

  • We refine any wording and confirm the flow.

2–3 weeks before

  • Final check-in.

  • We confirm timings, names, vows, witnesses, and any last details.

  • All legal paperwork is prepared.

Wedding day

  • I arrive early, connect with your vendors, and guide you through the ceremony.

  • You’re officially married.

Within a few days after

  • I lodge your signed paperwork with births, deaths and marriages.
